We are looking for an innovative and mission-driven Technical Manager, Data Engineering to play a pivotal role in building a new strategic multi-year technology platform for vehicle forecasting. This role requires technical leadership, Agile delivery expertise and people management skills in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
What will you focus on?
- Do what it takes to ensure execution, including assisting in the actual work where needed and seeing a problem through to a solution. Proven project management expertise, with deep experience in agile, Scrum, or other iterative models is a must have.
- Build cross-functional relationships with Data Scientists, Product Managers and Software Engineers to understand data needs and deliver on those needs
- Lead the effort for solution scoping and definition for data analytics engagements
- Ensure delivery of high-quality data products
- Assist teams in capturing and breaking down delivery of more complex requests that require coordination between teams
- Coordinate efforts in assessing new and existing technologies, using rapid prototyping approaches to evaluate innovations
- Make critical process improvement recommendations
- Be an active part of the leadership team and collaborate with other leaders in the organization
- Advocate and advance modern, agile software development practices and help develop great engineering and organizational practices
What skills and experience do you bring?
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics or a related field or equivalent experience
- 6+ years of proven work experience in managing Data & Analytics projects with deep experience in agile, Scrum, or other iterative models.
- 3+ years of experience designing and building on the cloud (AWS preferred)
- Experience leading efforts to provide simple, efficient, secure, performant and scalable data solutions
- Experience collaborating with product owners, data scientists and software engineers
- Experience with data-driven development, reliability, and responsible experimentation
- Experience with Python in a Data Engineering capacity is a plus
- Excellent quantitative skills and the ability to tell a story using data
- Ability to communicate effectively to senior management, peers and team members using both written and oral communications
